Buddy Murphy beat Cedric Alexander to win the Cruiserweight Title at the WWE Super Show-Down pay-per-view event at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) in Melbourne, Australia on the WWE Network.
As a result of this win, it marked the first reign as WWE Cruiserweight Champion for Murphy and his first title win on the main roster. Murphy reinvented himself when placed on the 205 Live brand that features all cruiserweight stars after a successful run in NXT.
Triple H recently gave him some high praise on Twitter by writing the following:
“A former @WWENXT Tag Team Champion, @WWE_Murphy came to #205Live with one goal in mind…show everyone he was a force in a @WWE ring who could succeed on his own…and at #WWESSD, in front of 70,000 people in his hometown of @Melbourne, Australia, he did just that.”
