Starting on August 7th, New Japan Pro Wrestling launches a new show STRONG, that will coincide with the start of the New Japan Cup USA.
The debut of STRONG will take place on Friday, and be broadcast weekly on NJPW World.
The line-up features NJPW USA based wrestlers, such as; KENTA, Chase Owens, David Finlay and Jeff Cobb.
The brackets are as follows;
Karl Fredricks vs. KENTA Jeff Cobb vs. Tanga Loa David Finlay vs. Chase Owens Brody King vs. Tama Tonga
NJPW have resumed shows in Japan with a limited audience due to restrictions in the country, but it has meant that the wrestlers in the New Japan Cup USA have been unable to travel to Japan.
KENTA, who lives in Florida, who was a focal point of the NJPW main event scene before the pandemic, will have to bide his time before returning to the land of the rising sun.
The New Japan Cup USA 2020 will be keep the US based wrestlers in the spotlight and on NJPW World over the coming weeks until restrictions are lifted.
This year’s New Japan Cup winner was EVIL, who went on to become the IWGP Heavyweight & Intercontinental Champion at Dominion.
It has been determined that the winner of the New Japan Cup USA will earn a shot at the IWGP US Heavyweight Title, which is currently being held by AEW’s, Jon Moxley.
All the action begins this Friday 7th August, with the first-round matches of the tournament taking place. It has not been determined where the matches were recorded or when.
