CM Punk Drops Huge Daniel Bryan Hint On AEW Dynamite

It felt like the whole world of professional wrestling was waiting to see what CM Punk’s first appearance on AEW Dynamite would entail.

And, while the world’s most talked about wrestler’s sophomore effort was a lot more lowkey than his debut on Rampage last Friday in Chicago, it still proved to be newsworthy enough to set plenty of tongues wagging.

The Straight Edge Superstar, who is set to go one-on-one with Darby Allin at All Out next Saturday in Chicago, did an in-ring interview with Tony Schiavone and managed to grab a whole bunch of headlines with one line in particular.

As the Milwaukee crowd erupted into “YES!” chants, Punk smiled at the interruption.

The former Ring of Honor champion then said, “That’s somebody else’s schtick and you might just need to be a little bit more patient, OK?”

The coy smile that emanated from CM Punk’s face after he dropped the quip was very telling, with him clearly knowing that his fellow ROH and WWE alumni Daniel Bryan aka ‘American Dragon’ Bryan Danielson will be joining him on the AEW roster very soon.

It is believed that Danielson will be debuting at AEW’s Grand Slam show, which will be taking place at the Arthur Ashe tennis stadium in Queens, New York on 22nd September.

Danielson finished up with WWE not long after WrestleMania 37, with his last match a losing effort to Roman Reigns where the stipulation was that the former WWE and World Heavyweight Champion would have to leave the company should he prove unsuccessful in dethroning the Tribal Chief as Universal Champion.

Given Danielson’s desire to work in Japan and Mexico, two avenues that were closed off to him during his decade long run in WWE, AEW and their wide open ‘forbidden door’ would prove ideal, given the working relationships between Tony Khan’s promotion and New Japan Pro Wrestling and AAA. We could soon be seeing dream matches galore, with the likes of Tanahashi, Okada, Suzuki and Sabre Jr all available for Danielson to square off against, not to mention the deluge of talent in AEW such as Omega, Fenix, Pentagon, MJF, Allin, CM Punk himself and EDDIE FRIGGING KINGSTON. Oh and while we’re at it, Sting as well. Give us ALL of these and more, pls, Tony. Cheers.

    Roll on 22nd September…
